DAY 1

Historical Heart of Aden

Explore Aden’s legacy as a port and fortress city

Morning:

Breakfast in Crater (Old Town) Try Maqas-qas (Yemeni donuts) and local chai Tea from a local street vendor.

Hike to the lookout at Sira Fortress (Sira Castle) Climb to these strategic Portuguese-Ottoman defenses overlooking the city’s harbor that offers spectacular views of the sea and coast.

Afternoon:

Lunch at a local fish grill spot Try grilled kingfish or shark with spicy sahawiq (salsa) and rice as you watch fishermen bring in their morning catch.
Tour of the Tawila Tanks (Cisterns of Aden)  See an ancient Himyarite engineering marvel built to catch monsoon rains.

Evening:

Visit Aden Mall  Recently renovated, the Mall is in sharp contrast to the historical city around it. It is a modern shopping and entertainment hub in the heart of Aden, offering international brands, local merchandise, dining options and play areas, making it a perfect family-friendly destination for shopping and socializing. 

DAY 2

Between Sea and Stories

The soul of Aden’s neighborhoods and coastal life

Morning:
Breakfast in Khor Maksar Try Yemeni-style beans and local chai tea with freshly baked Yemeni bread in a seaside neighborhood.
Cool off with an ocean dip Swim in the quiet waters of Gold Mohur or Elephant Bay. 

A boat ride from the beach (optional) Get a new perspective of the city from the water, heading out in a traditional fishing boat. 

Afternoon:
Lunch at Popular Local Restaurant Enjoy traditional Yemeni food in on of the most famous restaurants in Aden. 

Stop for a sweet treat Try Aden’s famous bread ice cream – a must-have local specialty. 

Visit Little Big Ben Like the original clock tower but smaller, drive past historical church buildings and navigate the windy streets up to tower. Enjoy this monument to the British presence in the city and the views from the lookout around it. 

Evening:

Relax Have some food ordered into your accommodation and relax after your second full day in Aden. 

DAY 3

Resilience & Restoration

Spiritual depth and renewal

Morning:
Taste authentic Yemeni Coffee and learn about the history of this beverage that was first brewed by Yemen’s Sufi mystics, while you enjoy your breakfast on a villa rooftop. 

Visit a Yemeni school, community center, or NGO Understand more about the war that is going around in the country and how inspiring local civil society organizations are responding to develop local solutions. 

Afternoon:
Lunch with NGO staff Continue to understand the situation in Yemen as a whole and the resilience of the Yemeni people in the face of the country’s ongoing crisis.

Evening:
Traditional Yemeni gathering with hosts Engage in conversation, share music or poetry, and reflect on what you've experienced.

Gift-giving or cooking exchange (Optional) with your hosts, bringing a taste of your own culture in return.

Notes

Security & logistics: Aden is relatively safer than many other Yemeni cities, but coordination is essential and we’ll take care of that.

Photography: Always ask permission, especially in homes or religious sites.

Respect: Dress modestly, show honor in family homes, and greet elders properly. We will brief you before you come!
